What gets encoded

Every field maps to a real vCard property

We write a standards-compliant vCard 3.0 record rather than a block of plain text, which is why scanning opens a proper contact card instead of a wall of characters.

Name

First and last name populate both the structured N field and the display FN field.

Phone

Encoded as a mobile number so phones offer to call or message directly.

Email

Tagged as an internet address, which mail apps recognise on import.

Company & title

Written to ORG and TITLE so the contact card fills in the work section.

Website

Normalised to a full URL, so example.com becomes a tappable link.

Address

Placed in the work address slot of the vCard record.

Printing advice

Sizing a vCard code for a business card

A full contact record holds more data than a short URL, so the matrix is denser and each module is smaller at the same physical size. Keep the printed code at 2cm square or larger, and use the vector SVG export so the edges stay crisp at business-card resolution.

Leave a quiet margin of clear space around the code — roughly the width of four modules. Codes printed hard against a border or a photograph are the most common scanning failure on cards, far more so than colour or logo choices.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About vCard QR Codes

What is a vCard QR code?

A vCard QR code stores complete contact details, including name, phone, email, company, job title, website, and address, in the vCard 3.0 format. Scanning it opens a prefilled contact card so the details can be saved in one tap.

Will a vCard QR code work on a printed business card?

Yes. Because the contact data is embedded directly in the code, it never expires and needs no internet connection to read. Download the vector SVG so the code stays sharp at business-card scale, and keep it at least 2 centimetres wide.

How much information can one vCard QR code hold?

A QR code can hold roughly 4,000 characters, far more than a typical contact record needs. Adding many long fields makes the code denser, so print it slightly larger if you include a full postal address and several phone numbers.

Can I add my company logo to a vCard QR code?

Yes. Upload your logo and the generator automatically switches to Level H (30%) error correction, which reserves enough redundancy for the centre of the code to be covered while remaining fully scannable.

Do I need an account to create a vCard QR code?

No. There is no signup, no email capture, and no watermark. Your contact details are encoded locally in your browser and the finished code downloads instantly as SVG or PNG.
