Why the default format matters
There are two ways to encode a location in a QR code. A plain Google Maps link (https://maps.google.com/?q=...) opens reliably on every phone, because it is just a web link the camera app already knows how to handle.
The geo: URI scheme is the technically native format and some Android apps read it directly, but iOS Camera support has been inconsistent across versions. That is why the Maps link is the default here, with geo: offered as an option for anyone who specifically needs it.

What happens when someone scans a location QR code?
By default the code opens a Google Maps link at the coordinates you entered, which works reliably on both Android and iPhone. You can switch to the raw geo: coordinate format instead, which some Android apps read natively, though iOS support for it is inconsistent.
Where do I find the exact latitude and longitude for a place?
Open the location in Google Maps, right-click (or long-press on mobile) the exact spot, and the coordinates appear at the top of the menu ready to copy. You can also tap "Use my current location" in the generator to fill in your own coordinates automatically.
Why does the generator default to a Maps link instead of geo: coordinates?
The geo: URI scheme is the technically "correct" way to encode coordinates, but iOS Camera does not always recognise it and may fail to offer to open Maps. A plain Google Maps link scans reliably on every phone, so it is the safer default; geo: is available if you specifically need it.
Can I use a location QR code without an internet connection?
The code itself works offline, since the coordinates are encoded directly in the QR matrix. Opening the link still requires the scanning phone to have a connection to load Maps, the same as tapping any map link would.
